RCA
Radio Corporation of America
(RCA) was the exclusive distributor for the four largest
electrical manufacturing companies: General Electric (which had bought American
Marconi), AT&T, Wireless Specialty Apparatus and Westinghouse. These four
companies had entered into cross-license agreements and owned almost every
patent for broadcast radio equipment and they manufactured most of the
commercial equipment and vacuum tubes in the early 1920s, RCA did not actually
manufacture anything itself, but through agreement had its name on products
made by the four partner companies.
